Hamamatsu announced its Lightningcure LC-L5 G series of line UV LED light sources. The LC-L5G series meets the long-term demand for high UV intensity in the printer market. These devices offer many advantages over metal halide lamps, including small size, light weight, low power consumption, and efficient heat dissipation using space-saving fans.
Traditionally, metal halide lamps have been used in high performance graphics devices such as inkjets and printers using UV curing or drying techniques. Hamamatsu uses the LC-L5 G series to achieve breakthroughs in linear illumination UV-LED light output. For example, the Lightningcure LC-L5 G L12990-2303 achieves a powerful UV radiation of 10,000 mW / cm2, making it ideal for inkjet and UV ink drying printers. In addition, the small size of the LC-L5 G series allows it to fit the inkjet head, while its light weight allows it to move with the inkjet nozzle.
The compact air cooling system minimizes heat emissions while eliminating the cumbersome chiller and exhaust piping requirements common with conventional UV lamps. This saves space and keeps the initial equipment cost low. Other features include low power consumption (minimum 40 W) and low maintenance, as it is not important to replace the bulb.
Application of four standard Lightningcure G series uv led light sources on different printers:
· GJ Series: Optimized to provide high power for the size of the inkjet head.
· GL series: suitable for screen printing machines, flexo printing machines, gravure printing machines, offset printing machines and batch printing machines.
· GP and GC series: can be used for pinning (temporary drying or curing by UV) to improve print quality.
· The series offers four wavelength options (365, 385, 395 and 405 nm) and is available in custom units to meet OEM needs.
